I do not believe that Ukraine's pity state today has anything to do with a curse. The communists that were ruling this part of the world for 70 years are still on top. They do not care what the colour of the flag or the formal name of the country is. They are the same and they are in the same place as before or much higher (Kuchma, Pustovoytenko) except the "unlucky" few - that's our main problem. The people that were fighting with communist government in the 1980's are still fighting with it; only then they were successful.
As for religion - well, your opinion on this topic can't match mine, since I'm Orthodox Christian myself.
